He is buried in Franktown Cemetery in Franktown Colorado. He wanted to move there and in live in an area that was like living in the mountains, that is why he chose this place. The base of the headstone was made by his wife and two children, Katy, Lynne and Kathleen; from rocks around the cemetery.

Lynne Sheffer was cremated and some of her ashes were spread up at Mother Cabrini Shrine in Colorado along next to where her mother Katy was spread. The other part of her ashes were buried with her father. Kimberly Thomas made a headstone for her to put with Hyrum Bert Sheffer's.
