      Death in Jessie Ewell's Bible, died at 10

      Colonel Jessie and his wife and young children lived at the Bel Air mansion in Prince William County VA. A frequent quest at the house was Thomas Jefferson, who had been a chum of Jesse's whem they both were attending the college of William & Mary.
      Like his brother, Jesse was a vestryman and church warden for Dettigen Parish, 1777-1782; was County-Lieutenant of Prince William county 1787.

      After his death Bel Air became the property of His son-in-law, the Rev. Mason Locke Weems, because of a debt owed him by the Ewells. Ref: Ewells in America, page 65
