In the notes of Richard Randall Ewell 's bible records: Richard Randall Ewell was the youngest child of Richard Leighton Ewell and Burnetta Watkins (Smith) Ewell (1st wife), London, Ky.
Children of Richard Randall Ewell and Dora Norvell Ewell: Clara Ethel , Thomas Lieghton and Erick Dudley.
Death: Bronchial pneumonia

In 1880 census London, Laurel, Kentucy he was listed as aage 16 Occupation : Rostabout
Noraye Sinclaire, grand daughter recalled the following:
"Only the family would address him as "Pap", his wife called him, "Dick", his close friends called him "Little Britches", and all others would address him as Mr. Ewell. He was a successful farmer and prominate in local politics. He once danced in the F. D. R. White House.
Pap started the fire every morning before his wife, Sue got up. He never permitted her to haul a drop of water or stick of firewood. When he died, they had to set up chairs on the church lawn and open all the windows so the overflow of people could hear the service. One of only two times that happend between 1900 and 1960 . The other was at Sue's funeral in 1942."
Noraye provided a certificate of military service that reads as follows:
Richard R. Ewell, Private of Company A, of the second regiment of Kentucky Volunteers, who was enlisted on the 29th of May, 1898, tow serve two years, or during the war is hearby discharged from the searvie of the United States by reasan of Mustering out of _____(?)
The said Richard R. Ewell born in Laurel County in the State of Kentucky and when enrolled was 34 years age, 5 feet 3 3/4 inches high, light complextion, Blue eyes, Dark hair and by occupation a N. S. Mail Contactor.
Given at Lexington Kentucky the 31st Day of October 1898.
